During the final round of the beauty pageant on Saturday, contestants were asked who they would choose as their next PM – Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha or Deputy PM General Prawit Wongsuwan.
The answers raised a lot of eyebrows.
For instance, some contestants said they preferred Prawit because he’s very old, while others said people who are too old should not be elected.
The biggest uproar, however, was about the question. Many tweets said the question was wrong and not creative enough for contestants to show their potential. Some even accused the organiser of using the question for its own benefit.
Some tweets also said it was a pity that the favourite, Lamphun’s Chayathanus "Cheraim" Saradatta, did not make it to the final round.
The crown instead went to Chumphon’s Thaweeporn “Aoom” Phingchamrat, who beat contestants from 77 provinces. She bagged the 1.2 million baht golden crown, 1 million baht in cash, the key to a condominium and various other prizes.
She will represent Thailand at the Miss Grand International 2023 contest in Vietnam later this year.
