Most people confident of Bangkok’s drainage system in tackling floods

The majority of Bangkokians were moderately confident in the capital’s drainage system and flood prevention measure, a poll by the National Institute of Development Administration released on Sunday showed.

The survey titled “Are Bangkokians afraid of flood this year” was conducted on 1,310 people aged above 18 years across the capital on September 18-19. Here are the poll results:

Are you concerned if floods in the North and Northeast could trigger inundation in Bangkok:

  • 33.82%: Moderately concerned 
  • 27.79%: Not concerned 
  • 21.06%: Moderately not concerned 
  • 17.33%: Very concerned 

Are you satisfied with Bangkok’s drainage system in the rainy season:

  • 42.14%: Moderately satisfied 
  • 28.09%: Moderately dissatisfied 
  • 17.79%: Very satisfied 
  • 10.38%: Very dissatisfied
  • 1.60%: No response or not interested

Do you have confidence in Bangkok’s flood prevention measure:

  • 37.25%: Moderately confident 
  • 32.29%: Moderately not confident 
  • 15.65%: No confidence 
  • 14.05%: Very confident 
  • 0.76%: No response or not interested
