Mixing up a storm

Next week is Negroni Week and The Okura Prestige Bangkok’s Up & Above Bar is joining in the fun to raise funds for charities around the world.

The classic Negroni is a refreshing blend of gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari garnished with a slice of orange. The drink’s true origins are unknown, but it was said to have first been mixed and poured in 1919 in a Florentine cafe at the request of one Count Camillo Negroni.
Over the years the Negroni has seen many variations, including the Boulevardier, which substitutes whiskey for the gin. During Negroni Week the bartenders at Up & Above Bar will be mixing both the classic cocktails and its variations for the enjoyment of its patrons.
For every Negroni-based cocktail bought, the hotel will donate Bt50 to the Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Foundation at Rajvithi Hospital.
Negroni Week runs from Monday (June 5) through June 11 nightly from 7. Cocktails start at Bt475.
