More blacktip reef sharks spotted at recovering Maya Bay

At 8am on Sunday, Hat Nopparat Thara-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park officials recorded a video clip of blacktip reef sharks near the shore at Maya Bay, National Park Management Division director Kamon Nuanyai said on Monday.

This is not the first time that they have been spotted during the ongoing Maya Bay closure, with blacktips also spotted at the bay off Koh Phi Phi Ley last week.
“This time there were even more blacktip reef sharks spotted in the same area. This shows that natural resources are plentiful and slowly returning after the five months of the closing of Maya Bay,” Kamon said.
