Thailand, Chengdu meet deepens partnerships

To highlight Thailand-Chengdu Cooperation Week 2018, a series of collaborative contracts were signed at the Chengdu Promotion Meeting held in Bangkok on December 17.

The week also saw a meeting on economic and trade exchange and another on business matching the same day.
The cooperation week events are held to build a platform for collaboration and exchange as Chengdu-based firms aim to expand into Southeast Asia, and to help businesses grasp opportunities related to China’s One Belt, One Road initiative and Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor, said a press release about the meeting.
Contracts for 18 collaborative projects were signed for areas including smart manufacturing, big health, automotive, furniture, trade in fresh products, as well as cultural, artistic and educational exchanges.
In the health sector, Sichuan Gaofuji Biotech inked an agreement for probiotics with Kasat Thai Organic Fertiliser.
In the automotive sector, Sichuan Yema Automobile signed an agreement for licensing the distribution of their electric vehicles in Thailand.
In the education sector, the College of Chinese & Asean Arts inked an agreement with Silpakorn University to jointly cultivate Master’s and Doctoral students.
Chengdu also promoted its commerce and tourism resources to Thai entrepreneurs in a move to deepen cooperation between China and Asean countries in the two sectors.
