The Move Forward Party MP joined crowds of Thai and foreign revellers for the second night of the annual water-splashing festival on Khao Niao (Sticky Rice) Road.
.
The festivities stretched for 1.4 kilometres from Sri Chan Road to Mittraphap Road.
Khon Kaen was the city where Pita announced his bid to become prime minister at the first Move Forward general meeting in October 2021. His reformist party won last year’s general election but was blocked from taking power after the junta-appointed Senate voted overwhelmingly against his candidacy
Pita was joined during Saturday’s water games by other members of Move Forward, which is facing potential dissolution after the Constitutional Court accepted a petition from the Electoral Commission accusing the party of seeking to overthrow the democratic form of government with its push to amend the lese majeste law.
Supposedly alcohol-free, the second night of splashing celebrations was boosted by more tourists, with an estimated crowd of over 150,000 people.
