In the early hours of Monday, a group of tourists on a homestay at Ban Klong Sai village in Wang Nam Khiew district were delighted to observe a big herd of wild bulls at close range.
The tourists had rented rooms at several houses providing homestay services as part of the community enterprise and were woken up early to observe the wild bulls.
This village is perhaps the only place in Thailand where wild bulls can be observed in their natural habitat.
Suwan Yongkrasan said the sighting of wild bulls had become a successful tourism activity thanks to cooperation among villagers and the support of state agencies.
This business is also helping villagers recoup their losses from wild bulls feasting on their crops, Suwan said.
Apart from paying for accommodation, tourists are charged 700-800 baht for a trip to the field to observe the bulls. The trips are normally organised in the evenings.
