Opposition leader Move Forward made the statement hours before Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin was scheduled to announce on Thursday evening the performance of his government after two months in office.
Move Forward party-list MP Rangsiman Rome said he could not give any grade to the government because there had been no progress at all on several key issues, including security and human rights.
Rangsiman said Srettha had performed poorly in Parliament as he often dodged the opposition’s questions or interpellations in the House of Representatives.
Another Move Forward party-list MP, Romadon Panjor, gave the “Ror” sign, which is used in school grading, to grade the government’s performance. The “Ror”, or pending, sign is given to students who fail to take exams or fail to submit their school assignments.
“I’ll give Ror to the government because it refused to do its homework and refused to submit its exam papers,” Romadon said.
Among other things, he said, the Srettha government had failed to pursue peace talks with insurgent groups in the deep South although the Malaysian government was waiting to help mediate the talks.
Chutipong Pipoppinyo, Move Forward MP from Rayong, said he found that Srettha often ignored constituency MPs when he made visits to provinces.
Chutipong said he once tried to meet Srettha during his visit to Rayong to inform him about the problems in the eastern province, but he was not allowed to meet the prime minister.
Chutipong said when Srettha announces his government’s achievements on Thursday, reporters should press him to answer which goals his government had actually reached from the roadmap for the first year.
