The UK-based consulting firm, which specialises in airline and airport reviews, said the list covered airport terminals that specialised in providing service to low-cost airlines. The rankings were based on its World Airport Survey that covered several aspects of the airports, including design and environment, transportation, facilities, airport staffers and service quality.
Terminal 3 at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport in France took the top spot this year, followed by Terminal 3 at Narita International Airport and Terminal 2 at Nagoya's Chubu Centrair International Airport, both in Japan.
Don Mueang airport, which is Bangkok’s secondary airport serving mostly domestic flights, was in 10th place, a rank behind London’s Stansted Airport.
Airports of Thailand (AOT) director Kirati Kitmanawat said on Friday that Don Mueang International Airport has improved its services and technology to provide safe and convenient air travel to passengers. Several state-of-the-art systems have been installed at the airport including Common Use Self Service, Common Use Bag Drop, Self-Bag Drop, and Passenger Validation System to make Don Mueang "a fast and hassle-free airport".
AOT operates Don Mueang and five other major airports in Thailand, including the country’s primary Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province.
Earlier this week, Skytrax announced the list of 100 World's Best Airports of 2024 at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, Germany. Suvarnabhumi Airport made it to this list in 58th position, 10 places higher than in the previous year.
Qatar’s Hamad International Airport in Doha topped the list, followed by Changi Airport (Singapore), and Seoul Incheon Airport (South Korea).
