According to government spokesman Chai Wacharonke, Srettha said in the message that his government realised the importance of the elderly and families for Thai society.
Srettha also vowed in the message that his own family would do all it could to ensure good quality of life for the elderly.
“On the occasion of National Elderly Day and Family Day, I would like to extend love and thoughts to all the elderly and all Thais in all families,” Chai quoted Srettha as saying in the official message.
Srettha said families are very important institutions of Thai society that unite family members and help all family members survive in times of crisis.
Srettha said when families are strong, the society and the country will also grow strong.
He noted in the message that a key factor of each family is the elder members.
“The elderly are valuable persons and they have valuable experience, knowledge and wisdom that should be preserved and inherited,” Srettha said.
“The elderly can also be centres of hearts and unity of all ages in the families.”
Srettha said his government would promote all sectors, including state and private agencies as well as civil society, to realise the importance of the development of family institutions and quality of life for the elderly so that they will become the foundation for development of human resources, society and the country.
