Ekkarat Sri-arayayanpong, chief of the SRT governor’s office, said on Monday that the underground car park will go into full operation, with parking available at the following rates:
• Free for the first 30 minutes
• 20 baht for the first to 14th hour
• 300 baht flat rate for 14 hours, but no longer than 24 hours
He said the smart parking system uses security cameras to record licence plates and the barriers are lifted automatically. The system also suggests free parking slots.
Passengers of interprovincial trains and the Red Line can enter the car park from Gates 1 and 4 on the eastern side of the station, and Gate 5 on the western side.
Parking fees can be paid inside the passenger building to prevent congestion at the car park exits, Ekkarat added.
The car park covers 72,000 square metres and can house 1,624 vehicles. There are also 20 slots for disabled persons. Security cameras and officials manning the car park round the clock will ensure users’ safety, he said.
The facility will be open from 6am to midnight daily, Ekkarat added.
