Researchers from the Ministry of Environment have discovered the oldest fossil found to date in Cambodia. The fossilised timber, unearthed in Banteay Meanchey province, is estimated to be between 252 and 299 million years old.

With Potentially high benefits at stake, Thailand is moving toward allowing the harvesting of some tree species, which is currently banned unless special permission is obtained.
