Energy Ministry to supply ethanol for hand-gel production

Energy Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong informed the Excise Department on Friday (March 13) that it will use part of its ethanol reserves for production of sanitiser hand gels without asking for permission.
Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana has ordered the Government Savings Bank (GSB), Government Lottery Office and Liquor Distillery Organisation to produce one million washing gels and distribute them nationwide through the GSB branches.
Washing gel tubes with 35 millilitre content will be distributed every Monday from March 16 to April 20 at PTT gas stations in Bangkok and nearby provinces.

The Liquor Distillery Organisation is stepping up on the production of 70-degree alcohol as an alternative to antibiotic gel and sprays which have run out of stock amid the spread of coronavirus, said acting director Somkuan Charusombat on Thursday (January 30).
