China's meteorologists warned of low temperatures, blizzards and strong winds on Sunday as a cold wave swept through central and eastern parts of the country, prompting authorities to secure heating, uninterrupted electricity supply and safe transportation amid the freeze.

At least 60 lives have been lost in weather-related incidents across the United States, according to an NBC News tally, from an arctic deep freeze and sprawling storm front that extended over most of the country for days, as far south as the Mexican border.
