Ariya, the 11-time LPGA winner, Moriya, also an LPGA winner, and PGA player Kiradech were allowed to return after some uncertainty. They had spent almost two months in the US.
With the number of infected patients growing at an alarming rate in the US, the three stars along with fellow-Thai player Wichanee Michai -- all normally based in Florida -- had earlier posted on social media their desire to come home.
Despite an offer from Boon Rawd Brewery owner Santi Bhirombhakdi to fly them back in a private jet, the golfers had to remain in the US for more than a week due to the Thai government’s ban on international flights because of Covid-19 concerns.
However, the pro golfers along with over 120 students of American Field Service, an international youth exchange organisation, were finally able to return to Thailand on Saturday. They will be in quarantine for 14 days at Ramada Hotel in Bangkok.
