The Bangkok Week 2021 opened as scheduled on Sunday and will run until July 31.

The Creative Economy Agency (Public Organisation), together with organisers in the government and private sectors, educational institutions and creative business groups said that parts of the festival would happen mostly in their online forms to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection.

The festival has been rescheduled to last longer, from May 8 to July 31, under the concept of "Resurgence of Possibilities".

The main festival of design and creation of the year will introduce everyone to the world of creativity.

Visitors can meet operators, designers and creatives who will gather online in accordance with the new normal way of life, focusing on safety in addition to Covid-19 control measures to be exercised throughout the festival.

Bangkok Design Week 2021 will have seven main activities:

1. Designs on display and exhibitions

2. Talks

3. Workshops

4. Events such as concerts and performances

5. Tours

6. Creative markets

7. Promotional events.

People can participate in activities in the festival online through the Bangkok Design Week page on Facebook.

The programmes will be broadcast via live streaming on the Bangkok Design Week page on Facebook. They will include "The Talk: Create a Better City Together" by CEA X Brandthink.

The discussion will focus on how to improve Bangkok in the future. Thinkers, local operators, landscape architects and policymakers will share their ideas in the programme.

They will include former transport minister and urban enthusiast Chadchart Sittipunt and intellectual Sulak Sivaraksa who has lived in Bang Rak and Charoen Krung areas since his childhood. The talk is scheduled for May 9, 2pm-4pm.

In June and July, parts of the exhibition venues will open to visitors. The venues are in Charoen Krung-Songwat, Samyan, Ari-Pradiphat and Thonglor-Ekamai areas. Visitors will be required to comply strictly with disease control measures set by the Ministry of Public Health, the organisers said.
