Thai journalists explore China's cutting-edge vocational education

The delegation visited to explore high-quality vocational education and the integration of local institutions into international production capacity cooperation.

As part of the 6th session of the event "China in the New Era: What Thai Media Should Know" on Monday, the delegation joined a symposium with CQVIE and toured the industry-education integration training base in intelligent equipment and advanced manufacturing at the institute.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for us to participate in this event," said the delegation leader, Usa Meecharee, at the symposium. "We are all aware that China's technology stands out globally, a highly desirable aspect. And I'm delighted to see that numerous students from Thailand are pursuing their studies here."

"During the training, we have the privilege of being exposed to cutting-edge technologies and knowledge in the fields of new energy and automotive specialities," said Jinda Chalood, dean of the Automotive College at the Eastern Technological College in Chumphon, Thailand.

Facing a changing manufacturing landscape and increasing demand for skilled workers, the Chinese government is calling for investment in vocational education and looking for its partners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to create a regional development community for deeper cooperation on vocational training and economic integration.

"This is our educational practice of how China's vocational education today adapts to industrial development," said Yi Jun, Party secretary of CQVIE. Yi said over 100 online and offline exchange activities between the two countries have been organised in recent years, benefiting more than 10,000 students and teachers. Both sides have exchanged students over 1,000 times. Over 100 internationalized faculty members have been trained, along with more than 500 faculty members in Thailand.

The CQVIE, led by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and the Thai Vocational Education Commission, initiated the China-Thailand Vocational Education Alliance in 2018, which has developed into a key platform for vocational education cooperation in smart manufacturing, new energy vehicles, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce between China and Thailand.

Comprised of 59 Chinese institutions, 46 Thai institutions and 30 enterprises from both countries, the platform has developed professional courses and standards that align with international norms, including 102 online courses in Chinese, English and Thai.
