Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Sunday thanked Thai K-pop star Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal for choosing to shoot a music video for her song “Rockstar” in Yaowarat, Bangkok’s Chinatown.

Srettha expressed confidence that Lisa’s video would attract tourists to the Chinatown area.

“I would like to thank Lisa for thinking of her motherland,” Srettha said.
“Yaowarat Road has high tourism potential, with many Chinese tourists visiting it.”

Lisa’s official “Rockstar” music video was released on YouTube at 7am on Friday. By 3.25pm Sunday, it had already received 47 million views.

Srettha also thanked Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipung for visiting Yaowarat on Saturday to cooperate with the Tourism and Sports Ministry to increase safety and hygiene for tourists in Chinatown.

Srettha said he hoped the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Tourism Ministry would cooperate to boost tourism to adjacent areas of Yaowarat as well, such as Song Wat Road and the Golden Mount.

Srettha said the figures for foreign arrivals were improving and his government would also attract new markets, such as Middle East countries.

Srettha added that he would visit India on August 15 and 16 and would discuss aviation cooperation to boost bilateral tourism and would invite Indian airlines to fly more frequently to Thailand.
