He said 67,017 people had either shown up at the department’s offices or visited the Smart Job Centre website to apply for jobs between October and January this year, up 56 per cent year on year.
“During this period 111,451 vacancies were advertised, up 26 per cent year on year, and 107,492 people have been employed, up 33 per cent year on year,” he said.
"In January alone, 14,156 job seekers used the department’s services, 29,175 vacancies were advertised and 22,887 people were employed.”
He added that most people used the department’s website to hunt for jobs.
“Job seekers and employers can use the Department of Employment’s channels free of charge in line with the Labour Ministry’s policy,” he added.
