Pathum Thani closes schools, public venues to prevent virus spread

Pathum Thani governor Chaiwat Chuenkosum on Friday ordered the temporary closure of high-risk venues in the province to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.

Taking effect from Saturday until January 15, the order covers schools, nurseries, tutorial schools, cockfighting rings, indoor sports stadiums, fitness centres, snooker halls, tattoo shops, internet cafes, theme parks, bowling halls, swimming pools, amulet centres, prawn fishing ponds, pubs, bars, and karaoke shops.

It also includes restaurants, food and beverage shops and stalls, though take-away services are permitted to operate.

Exempted from the order are hospital and hotel restaurants serving patients or guests.

The province has also banned the concerts, mass gatherings and the entry or exit of foreign migrant workers.
