Early on Saturday, local officials, together with volunteers and police, were ordered by the provincial governor to check a night restaurant called “Matthayom” in Muang district, after some locals complained that the restaurant sold alcoholic beverages to youth aged under 20.
Police caught 37 youth aged around 17 and 18 during the raid, but some of them escaped.
Meanwhile, other evidence related to alcohol sales were found and confiscated by Muang Trang Police Station. Police said the restaurant owner would be prosecuted under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act and the Child Protection Act.
Police will propose to the Trang governor to close the restaurant for five years, under the order of the National Council for Peace and Order. The detained youths were admonished and allowed to return home.
