Customs Dept chief named new Finance permanent secretary

In a meeting on Tuesday (August 18), the Cabinet approved the appointment of Krisda Chinavicharana as the new permanent secretary for the Finance Ministry. Krisda, previously director-general of the Customs Department, will be succeeding Prasong Poontaneat, who retires on August 30.

Born on April 20, 1963, the 57-year-old Krisda picked up a Bachelor of Law from Chulalongkorn University before completing a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of New Haven in the US. He served as an official of the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) before rising the ranks to become director and then becoming chief of the Customs Department.
