The six latest cases are a 36-year-old woman who returned from the US, four male students, who came home from Egypt, and a 57-year-old woman who returned from Germany. All cases were asymptomatic.
After the cases of an infected Egyptian soldier in Rayong and a girl of a Sudanese diplomat’s family who tested positive for the virus in Bangkok, Rayong has tested 6,843 people and Bangkok 364 people. All test results were negative.
As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,261 (324 found in state quarantine). Of these, 98 are under treatment, 3,105 have recovered and been discharged, and 58 have died.
Globally, the number of confirmed cases has passed 15 million, up by 241,000 in the past 24 hours. Some 8.9 million people have recovered while 619,000 have died.
Thailand’s global ranking for Covid-19 cases dropped one place in 24 hours to 103rd. The US has the highest number of infections at 4 million, followed by Brazil (2.1 million) and India (1.1 million).
