Four new Covid-19 cases found in state quarantine

Four new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed over a 24-hour period, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman for the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said on Wednesday (June 10).

He also said that the CCSA committee would discuss the fourth phase of relaxation of lockdown measures on Friday.


The four new cases found in state quarantine included a 44-year-old worker who had returned from Madagascar where he worked and lived in the international campsite. He was in quarantine in Bangkok and found to be infected on June 7 after having a runny nose and fever symptoms.


A 34-year-old woman, who is the wife of a Pakistani man and returned to Bangkok, tested positive after she showed symptoms, such as coughing and a runny nose. Her husband’s five family members (including her husband) were infected with Covid-19.


Two 35-year-old women who worked as masseuse and had returned from India were found to be asymptomatic on the third day of their quarantine in Chonburi province.


Eight patients recovered fully and returned home.


As of June 10, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 3,125 -- 86 are under treatment, 2,981 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.


Globally, the total number of confirmed cases has crossed 7.3 million, up 124,000 on Tuesday, while deaths have exceeded 413,000. Thailand ranks 85th in the most number of cases.
