People from Phuket visiting Surat Thani province will be quarantined at home for 14 days, the province's top official said.

Governor Witchawut Jinto on Friday (May 1) ordered all district chiefs to quarantine visitors from Phuket after 1,143 people expressed their interest to return to their homes in Surat Thani.
“We will consider these people as travellers from a high-risk territory and therefore they will be subjected to mandatory 14-day home quarantine,” he said. “The quarantine will be closely supervised by public health officials as well as district chiefs, village headmen and district administration offices, whereas the travellers must report their health status via telephone every day.”
The governor also expected a daily report on the number of travellers from officials at inter-provincial checkpoints.
As of May 1, Phuket had 217 cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases with 176 recovered, 38 under treatment and two deaths.
Surat Thani has reported 18 cases so far and all the patients have recovered, making the province Covid-19 free at the moment.
