Songkhla sends medical team to help Phuket battle contagion

Songkhla governor escorted a team of 50 medics from Songkhal Nakarin Hospital, led by hospital director Dr Puttisak Puttawibul, to help treat Covid-19 patients in Phuket. These patients will be treated in a special field hospital to be set up by the Songkhla team. The team will be based in Phuket for at least two months or at least until there are no new infections.

Phuket has the second highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country, after Bangkok. As of Wednesday (April 15), three new cases emerged in the island bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases up to 191, 78 of whom have recovered, while 113 are still being treated with three in critical condition. So far there have been no virus-related deaths in Phuket.
