“The campaign is aimed at promoting Thailand as a preferred destination, as well as urging Thai people to be good hosts to those tourists, making them want to return to the country,” the minister said.
The 39-millionth tourist was Russian woman Anna Pavlovskaya (45), who arrived from Moscow with her family.
As the campaign’s lucky tourist, Pavlovskaya received the campaign’s shirt and certificate, hotel packages, two low-cost airlines tickets, and AOT (Airport of Thailand) limousine service.
The minister estimated 39.77 million tourists to generate Bt1.96 trillion in 2019. Meanwhile some 167 million domestic tourists generated Bt1.10 trillion. “Totally, the Thai tourism industry would have gained Bt3.06 trillion in 2019,” Phiphat said.
