Pope’s visit includes meetings with King, PM

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Thailand on Wednesday (October 2) released the official schedule for the “Apostolic Journey” that stops in both Thailand and Japan.
It shows the leader of the Roman Catholic Church being officially welcomed on his arrival at Military Air Terminal 2 at Don Meuang Airport on November 20.
On the morning of November 21, the Pope will meet Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and other officials at Government House, along with representatives of civil society and the diplomatic corps.
He will then proceed to Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram to meet the Supreme Patriarch,
Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana IX, head of the Buddhist faith in Thailand.
In the afternoon Pope Francis will have a private audience with the King, and then preside at a public mass at the National Stadium.
On November 22 the Pope will meet with Thai Catholic bishops and priests, then with the local leaders of other Christian denominations and other religions, followed by another mass, this one for young people, at the Cathedral of the Assumption.
Pope Francis departs Bangkok for Japan on the morning of November 23.
