The bodies of a couple and their young daughter were found in a car that had been parked overnight on a soi in Pathum Thani’s Lam Lukka district Tuesday evening in what is believed to be a mass suicide, police said.

The body of the father, Surachet Nilkhote, 36, was found in the driver’s seat, while the bodies of mother and young girl, who was dressed in a kindergarten uniform, were entwined on the back seat. The mother was identified as Natnicha Nilkhote and the child as Fahsai Nilkhote, who appeared to be between 4 and 7 years old.
A stove with ashes was found in the storage space at the back of the Toyota Wish car. A bag of charcoal had been placed near the stove.
The Lam Lukka police station was alerted at 4pm that a car had been parked on Soi Boonyalak off a frontage road of the motorway since 9pm Monday with three people inside.
Police called on a technician to open the car’s locked doors and found the three bodies. A doctor determined they had been dead for at least seven hours.
The bodies have been sent to a hospital for autopsy pending contact of the family’s relatives.
