Thresher shark rescued at Phi Phi Don Island

Staff from Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and local villagers successfully rescued a beached thresher shark on Phi Phi Don Island in Krabi province safely returning it to the sea on Wednesday.

Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, a leading Thai marine ecologist, noted that thresher sharks usually inhabit deep-sea waters, making this shallow-water appearance highly unusual.

These rare sharks occasionally visit coastal areas for cleaner fish but are typically seen at dawn or dusk. Known for their skittish nature, thresher sharks are not accustomed to human presence.
