Buakaw, dubbed the “King of Muay Thai”, beat his friend Saenchai PK Saenchai on points in a bare-knuckle fight in the series “BKFC Thailand 5: Legends of Siam”, held in Pattaya, Chonburi last Saturday (November 4).
Thainchai Pisitwuttinan, CEO and co-founder of Global Sport Ventures, organiser of the RWS: Legend of Rajadamnern event, said on Tuesday that Rajadamnern Stadium is the home of Muay Thai and that he was glad to be a part of the efforts to promote Thailand’s soft power, a stated governments policy.
“RWS: Legend of Rajadamnern will be our biggest tournament this year,” he said. “It could also be the last fight of Buakaw as a Muay Thai boxer before he switches to something new. It’s a match that no Muay Thai fan can afford to miss.”
In the September bout of RWS: Legend of Rajadamnern, Buakaw’s fight against Japan’s Yasuhiro Kido was cut short on medical advice when a cut on Kido’s head opened up,
In last year’s edition of RWS, Buakaw TKO’d Japan’s Kota Miura in the third round in September, before knocking out his arch-enemy, Yoshihiro Sato, also from Japan, in the first round in October. In December, Buakaw went up against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Yefimenko in a match that resulted in no winner being declared.
Buakaw is slated to fight Philippines' Manny Pacquiao in the first quarter of next year in an event organised by Fresh Air Festival Co Ltd and cinema operator SF Corporation Plc.
The December 2 bout of RWS: Legend of Rajadamnern will be broadcast live on Workpoint TV channel 23, YouTube (WorkpointOfficial) and Facebook (Workpoint Entertainment).
The matches will also be aired around the globe in over 200 countries by DZAN.
