Musical maestro Jayata ‘Thad’ Tieanworn is also a community champion

Thad's selection followed an intensive nationwide process conducted by the Education Ministry. This rigorous procedure scrutinised candidates across the country, evaluating their contributions, leadership, and achievements. Thad's emergence as the award recipient recognises his dedication and exceptional capabilities.

Multi-instrumentalist Thad conquers the classical music world

What sets Thad apart is his mastery of music. An oboe and piano virtuoso, he has claimed victories in prestigious international music competitions. His talent has resonated globally, winning him platinum, first, and gold prizes in local and international competitions and stellar achievements in iconic venues like Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Salzburg's Solitar, Mozarteum Concert Hall, and Carnegie Hall in New York City.

In an extraordinary display of musical mastery, Thad became a global sensation on the classical music scene in 2022. His remarkable journey began with capturing the prestigious Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso. Momentum continued as he clinched the coveted first prize at the Amsterdam Grand Prize Virtuoso, and his virtuosic performances earned him the top honour at the Golden Classical Music Awards. His winning streak didn’t end there though, and he went on to secure the gold medal in the Quebec Music International Competition and take first place in the Vivaldi International Music Competition.

The recipient of the Platinum Award at the Global International Music Competition, Thad continued to dominate the competition circuit with a victory in the Tiziano Rosetti International Music Competition in Lugano, Switzerland. His flair for impassioned performance was recognised with the gold prize at the Appassionato Quebec Youth Music Festival. He also achieved first prize in the King's Peak International Music Competition, alongside first prizes in the Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso, the European Classical Music Pianist Award, and the European Autumn Music Competition. His series of triumphs have earned him invitations to grace the stages of such illustrious cities as Salzburg, Amsterdam, New York City, and Paris.

The year 2023 saw yet more accolades for Thad, who began by securing the gold medal in the World Classical Music Awards, and delivered first-rate performances to win the Bach International Music Competition. His talent continued to resonate across the globe, earning him the gold medal in the London Young Musician Competition and the first place winner trophy in the Bangkok International Youth Music Competition. In recognition of his extraordinary talent, Thad has been invited to perform at the historic Beethoven House in Bonn, Germany and Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Thad’s unparalleled achievements have not only etched his name into the annals of classical music history but have also brought a renewed enthusiasm for classical music to audiences worldwide.

A Symphony of Musical Excellence and Devotion to Service

But Thad’s talents do not stop at music. A major factor in his recognition is his revolutionary work in landscaping and environmental conservation. As part of his volunteer efforts with Habitat for Thailand in December 2022, Thad demonstrated not only his commitment to community service but also his innovative spirit in environmental design. He led a significant project at the Santichon Songkrao Community Centre in Bangkok, where he oversaw the preparation of ideal soil conditions for planting.

His hands-on approach to carrying soil, transporting, and planting flowers transformed the centre's surroundings into a flourishing landscape. His initiative beautified the area and today serves as a practical model for sustainable community development.

During the summer of 2023, Thad’s innovative mind made headlines when he designed a bin that minimized odours during the summer, an achievement that earned him the “Gold Award” in the 2023 International Creative Thinking Olympiad (ICTO) Competition.

Thad's ingenuity and compassion were also showcased at the Bangphra Waterbird Breeding Centre in Chonburi where he introduced a cost-effective and sustainable approach to nurture the centre's avian inhabitants by cultivating plants specifically chosen to feed the birds. This initiative not only provided a steady and natural food source for the birds but also demonstrated Thad's understanding of environmental balance and sustainability.

Additionally, Thad applied his creative skills to redesign the interiors of the bird cages, ensuring they were perfectly tailored to the birds' needs and assured both their comfort and well-being. Thad's contributions to the breeding centre illustrate his remarkable ability to combine practical solutions with compassionate care, further cementing his status as a young visionary in environmental conservation and animal welfare.

Beyond his accolades, what truly makes Thad an outstanding figure is his ability to balance his rigorous academic schedule with his commitments to music and community service. He embodies the spirit of a new generation of Thai youth - one that is globally conscious, exceptionally talented and passionately driven.

Upon receiving his awards, Thad shared inspiring thoughts, saying that every child has the ability to achieve greatness by setting a goal and committing wholeheartedly to his or her dreams. Thad emphasised that dedication and focus are the keys to turning aspirations into achievements.
