Dao Khanong" confirms its status as best movie at KCL awards

The independent film “Dao Khanong” (“By The Time It Gets Dark”) repeated its success, winning best picture as well as best director for Anocha Suwichakornpong at Kom Chad Luek award ceremony held today at Thailand Cultural Centre.

The movie and the director also swept the same categories at  the Subhanahongsa, the Bangkok Critics Assembly and the Thai Film Director Association awards.

The best actor prize went to  Attaporn Suwan for his role as a teacher in the low-budget film "Paa" ("The Forest") directed by the British filmmaker Paul Spurrier. Attaporn, who is also known as Asanee Suwan, is well known from his role as Nong Toom in “Beautiful Boxer”.

Davika Hoorne won best actress as an old woman who mysteriously returns to being 20 years old in “20 Mai U-turn Wai Huajai Return” (“Suddenly Twenty”).

Best supporting actor went to Krissada Sukosol Clapp for his role as a Southern criminal in “Khun Phan” and Penpak Sirikul won best supporting actress for “Pum Namman” (“A Gas Station”)

Best screenplay went to Pimpaka Towira and Kong Rithdee for “Mahasamut Lae Susan” (The Island Funeral).

In KCL's TV category, horror melodrama “Pit Sawat” produced by One Channel 31 has won two major awards, best drama and best actress for Woranuch BhiromBhakdi. The rest of the winners were from Channel 33 and included best director for Pongpat Wachirabanjong for “Nakhee”, best actor for Nadech Kugimiya for “Tam Rak Khuen Jai” and best screenplay for “Wai Sab Saraek Khad”, which earlier  won the Nine Entertain award for drama of the year.

“Tam Rak Khuen Jai” also did well, winning the supporting actor award for Thanakorn Posayanandha and best supporting actress prize for  Rinlanee Sriphen for “Duang Jai Pisut”.

In the popular vote categories, Channel 33's “Padiewarada” won the drama award while the Thai movie prize went to GDH 559’s “Pohnjakfah” (“A Gift”).

Ranee ‘Bella’ Campen finally won the popular vote for actress, having been runner up to her colleague Urasaya "Yaya" Spurband, who had won the award for five consecutive years. One Channel actor Pratchaya ‘Singhto’ Ruangroj from the series “Sotus” won most popular vote actor award.
