Everything but the “Heng” part of the name is English, which had folks on the social media wondering how on earth he managed to get it registered at any district office, which are usually averse to foreign names in general, let alone an untamed tongue-twister like this. Surely his poor parents didn’t come up with it. So he must have changed his original name – to one that seems made for a career in direct sales or some other get-rich-quick dream. Was it supposed to be “auspicious”? It clearly hasn’t brought him any luck!
The owner of the stolen phone used an application to locate both it and the thief. Some cop somewhere had the misfortune of having to write out “Hengjobshappylife Makelifebetter” on a rap sheet. We’ll see what the judge has to say.
A moment or Tu
Finally the press got a chance to talk to singer Nantida “Tu” Kaewbuasai about her ex-husband Chonsawat “Ae” Asavahame splitting with his follow-up wife, actress Janie Thienphosuvan. Tu was at Madame Tussauds in Bangkok watching a wax effigy of Whitney Houston being unveiled, which seems a fitting setting for a discussion about a series of relationships that were moulded and melted.
Reporters asked her (Tu, not Whitney) about the scandalous news, but she wasn’t about to get lured into even a formal statement, let alone a diatribe. She said she was no longer part of the Asavahame family and thus not involved in the divorce or anything to do with it.
“Is it true that Khun Ae sought your advice about the divorce?” one reporter persisted. “Not at all,” she said. She heard about it only when it made the news. “I’m an outsider,” she repeated, and then topped it with ice. “I think we’d better talk about other topics.”
The news hounds knew that her daughter Pleng stays in touch with the old man and Tu confirmed that that arrangement stands. “They’re daughter and father and nothing’s changed – they continue taking care of each other,” she said.
So the conservation shifted to “other topics”. Tu has a birthday coming up on August 16. “My daughter is taking me to see the musical ‘Si Phan Din’. I don’t know whether she’s buying me a present too or not. Last year she gave me a wallet. Maybe she’ll give me something for Mother’s Day instead – she usually gives me a bouquet of flowers.”
Birthdays are perfect for relaxing with the family, Tu added. “I’ve been working hard and times like these are when I want to just take a rest.”
