Thailand takes 2-0 win in Asian Cup first match

Thailand’s under-23 national football team beat Iraq’s U23 team in the first match of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup, held by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar on Tuesday.

In the first match of C Group, Thailand’s Waris Choolthong scored the first and only goal in the first half in the 26th minute by shooting through the legs of the Iraqi goalkeeper.

In the 65th minute, Thai substitute Teerasak Poeiphimai scored a second goal for Thailand with a header off a corner kick by Waris.

There were no more goals before the final whistle, resulting in Thailand collecting a full 3 points from the first match with a 2-0 win.

In the next match, Thailand’s U23 team will play against Saudi Arabia at Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar on Friday (April 19). Fans can watch it live on True Sport 2 (channel 667) from 11.30pm.
