The Channel 3 show ends its 27-year run on November 30 after popular TV host Wittawat Sontornvinate announces his retirement plans

Renowned television talk show host, Wittawat Soontornvinate, has announced he is retiring and bringing an end to the popular “At 10 Day” variety talk show he has hosted for the past 27 years.

The last episode of the Channel 3 show will be broadcast on November 30, a post on the “At 10 Day” Facebook page said on Thursday.

Wittawat, 70, was born in Yala on April 30, 1954, and completed his schooling at Phra Khanong Pittayalai School in Bangkok before heading to Australia’s Curtin University to get a bachelor’s degree.

He started his remarkable 40-year career on television by becoming a weather forecaster at the evening news programme on the MCOT channel, formerly Channel 9. He then started hosting the “Kuen Nee Tee Chong Kao” (Tonight at Channel 9), which was later shifted to Channel 7 under the new name “Tee Nee Krungthep” (This is Bangkok).

Wittawat later became the managing director of Constant Advertising and started producing his own TV show, “10PM Square” on Channel 7, which he co-hosted with actress Duangta Tungkamani and comedian Der Doksadao.

He quit Constant Advertising in 1997 and was invited by Pravit Maleenont, former executive director of BEC World which operated Channel 3, to produce a TV show.

In response, Wittawat opened and took the managing director’s position of Twenty Twenty Entertainment to produce the “At 10” TV show, which was broadcast every Tuesday from 11.20pm to 12.50am on Channel 3.

The show’s name was later changed to “At 10 Day” to match its new broadcasting slot on Saturday at 1pm.

Apart from his television talk shows, Wittawat also served as an emcee at Miss Thailand beauty pageants from 1988 to 1998.
