A total of 10 teams – four through invitations and six from qualifying events in six different regions (Commonwealth of Independent States, North America, South America, Europe, China and Asean) – will take part in the biggest E Sports (video games) event to be held in the Kingdom.

More than 1,000 teams are expected to compete in the qualification stage between September and October.
Thailand, which is in the Asean zone, will select a team through the Live Alive Thailand Qualifier, which will take place in parallel with zonal qualifying events.
E Sports is expanding globally – it is being featured in the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia as a demonstration sport but will be included as medal sport in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou and the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
“We realise that the lifestyle of the young generation has changed according to modern technology. As a result, we have stepped up to catch up with the trend, especially on our policy to encourage young people to live their way of lives,” said the Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Motors Thailand, Wutthikorn Suriyachantananon.

“Due to the growing popularity of E Sports worldwide, we decided to support this tournament as we want to help develop the skills of Thai players and prepare them for the international level.”
According to the organisers, the four invited teams will be picked from the world’s top 20 and will be making their first appearances in Thailand.
