Out & About Cream of the crop
More than 130 extraordinary works by Lucie Awards honorees including such world-class photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt and Robert Capa go on show on Wednesday at House of Lucie on Ekamai Soi 2. The show, titled “Lucie Masters”, features both original prints and published photographs.
The centre not only aims to promote international photography to the widest audiences, but also to allow young photographers to be inspired by the works of these masters — all of which hopefully will provide insight and cultural cues, and illustrate dedication to the art of photography
The show runs through September 15. For more information call (095) 478 9987 or visit Facebook page/houseoflucie.

She’s a devil woman
Young female painter Boonhlue Yangsauys returns to Number 1 Gallery with her new solo show “Lady and Chanderlier”. On display are fantasy paintings depicting women in their underwear, swimsuit and even naked, all posting with glittering candelabra.
“My paintings are reflect the women who are always ready to turn into demons. They may look soft and fragile on the outside, but they are strong inside. They are angels in disguise who are patient and strong-minded, even though they are faced with cruel challenges and run the risk of being the prey of the predators that are willing to take the advantage of them,” the artist explains.
The show runs through June 24. Call the gallery at (02) 630 2523 or visit www.Number1Gallery.com.

Out & About Salute to the old
Taking a close look at the future, the photo installation “Bye Bye Chinatown”, opening on Friday at Cho Why, portrays how charming old Chinatown will transform into a busy modern district once the MRT extension is completed. The photos focus on the Soi Nana 17 neighbourhood around the gallery near Yaowarat.
A series of side programmes is also planned. The show runs until June 23.
