CNN offered a clear window on depth of Thais’ grief

The report by CNN’s Will Ripley at Siriraj Hospital on October 13 warmed my heart. Your recognition of his excellent factual coverage of a traumatic day for Thais surprised me, but it boosted my spirits immensely to see good journalism acknowledged and praised by fellow pressmen. 
Mr Ripley’s coverage contrasts sharply with that of certain BBC correspondents, who like to be clever by colouring the facts with personal opinion, most of it imperfect.
On October 14 my immediate reaction to Mr Ripley’s piece was echoed on Facebook: “ Excellent report on our King from CNN’s Will Ripley! Also, two Thais with excellent English described why they love our King!” 
His calm and factual coverage of the nation’s mourning will have helped enlighten foreigners of the reason we feel such deep grief over our loss. The clip of just over 12 minutes is available on YouTube under the heading “Passing of the Great King/CNN Reports from Bangkok/13 Oct”.
