Divana Nurture Spa introduces a new facial treatment guaranteed to take the years off

THE GRACEFUL old mansion all but hidden away in the maze of businesses, bars, restaurants and high-rise condo blocks that make up Sukhumvit Soi 11 seems like a mirage at first glance but a glance at the sign outside the entrance tells the visitor that they are indeed in the here and now.
Surrounded by lush greenery, the mansion and its outbuildings are home to the Divana Nurture Spa, the new holistic retreat that’s the latest addition to the Divana Spa group.
Inside it’s surprisingly large with a courtyard, activity space, reception room, products corner, and treatment rooms spread across two floors in the mansion zone. The villa zone, detached and flanking the mansion on both sides, consists of 14 double rooms and two triple rooms with a total 34 beds. Each is well equipped with modern amenities, a steam room, an en suite bathroom, bathtub and a view of the serene garden.
The retreat mirrors the relationship between spa and lotus by incorporating features of the flower in the design and decor. The decorations have a simple lotus motif, representing a harmonious blend of lotus flowers, petals and leaves. The spaces are airy and light, surrounded by a lush shady tropical garden with a lotus pond at its heart. The use of earth tones – green, brown, grey and gold – creates a tranquil atmosphere and relaxes the mind.
Divana recently joined with H2O Hydro, the importer of Iceland Spring natural mineral water, in offering a special treatment using spring water for an exclusive facial spa.
“As Iceland Spring has a pH of 8.88, its alkalinity helps to balance the pH level on the surface of the skin. Various benefits of alkaline water have been scientifically proven, and the most prominent ones are killing the germs and bacteria that cause acne, rashes and skin inflammation. Natural alkaline water also helps to carry oxygen to the deepest skin level making the skin more radiant,” explains Onchuma Durongdej, managing director of the natural spring water, which is drawn in the reserve valley of Heiomork near Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital.
The special programme “Detoxify Jade Energetic Therapy” involves three rounds of spraying the face with natural spring water.
“Our skin becomes acidic because of the pollution,” explains Apiradee Heranramdej, the spa’s director and a specialist in anti-ageing and rejuvenation.
“The first step, Facial Sensory Therapy, neutralises the facial skin using charged molecules of natural alkaline spring water and helps it go back to its natural balance. That’s followed by the Bio-Detox Facial Cleansing, which involves a soft scrub to take away the dead skin cells. The face is then sprayed again to hydrate the skin and readjust the pH balance. Next, a hot jade stone is used to massage the face to stimulate blood flow as well as detox from within. This step gently removes the residual toxins throughout the skin.”
The second massage, the Amethyst Stone Face Lift, uses an iced amethyst stone to help close pores and invigorate the skin. The face is then covered with the Placenta Rejuvenate Mask to hydrate the skin and make it more resistant to pollution. The face is then given another spray of Iceland Spring water to balance the skin surface before finishing with an application of Time Reversal Facial Day Cream.
The spa’s other signature treatments are based on the diagnosis of both physical and psychological conditions to ascertain the right remedies. They bring together three healing sciences – traditional Thai medicine, oriental healing wisdom, and modern medicine – and draw upon the lotus flower’s medicinal properties.
Divana Nurture Spa offers spiritual and inner classes to promote tranquillity of body and mind as well as yoga and longevity classes featuring meditation and reading therapy.
