The confirmation of Liverpool’s trip to the country was made at a conference held at Central World Wednesday, exactly the same day the club was founded 123 years ago.
It is the Reds’ second visit to the country in three years and sixth overall and the club said it was because of the “incredible” support they received from local fans that compelled them to return to Thailand yet again.
“It’s the sixth time Liverpool has visited Thailand. One of the reasons for this is the truly special relationship between Liverpool and Thailand.
“The warmth that the players mentioned on the video and the welcome that we’ve had is truly inspiring for everyone involved,” said Liverpool executive Olly Dale at a packed conference also attended by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler.
“It’s not only the opportunity for the team to prepare for upcoming season but also for us to spend some time with the incredible fans we have here in Thailand, 10 million incredible fans,” said Dale to loud cheers from the audience that included some Liverpool fans.
“We’re looking to another sold-out game coming up this summer. We’ll get the opportunity to recreate that very special atmosphere with our Thai fans, who are able to create when we come here to play in the great country.
“It’s not just about the first team. We’ll also bring some of your favourite Liverpool legends together with marvellous coaches from Liverpool foundation who look to do such great work and bring Liverpool right at the heart of community here in Bangkok,” he said.
Liverpool are scheduled to play True All Stars team in the True Super Trophy match at Rajamangala National stadium on July 14 and Birathon Kasemsri Na Ayudhaya, TrueVisions Group’s head of Commercial and Business Development, promised something special from the Reds’ trip this time.
“Visiting Thailand this time, Liverpool FC will surely be preparing something special to impress its loyal Thai fans when they come to play in the True Super Trophy 2015, in which they would come up against True All Stars, made up of some of the outstanding footballers from various football clubs in Thailand.
“TrueVisions is determined to select the world’s events, including quality content for its members and subscribers. Thai people will have a chance to have a world-class experience. We are certain that True Super Trophy 2015 will surely impress both Liverpool FC fans and Thai sports fans,” said Birathon.
There will be several activities for the local fans to enjoy and participate to get close to their favourite players. The activities include “The Kop Run,” a mini-marathon with Liverpool legends, “The Kop Open Ground”, which offers the opportunity for fans to watch the team’s training and “The Kop Live Party”, which features mini concert and the LFC exhibition on the eve of the match.
