The teens did not care about critical looks on fellow passengers and after their "We-don't-care" dance, they upload the video and post on the social media, only to be bombarded by criticisms of disrespect to norm of Japanese society.
It could have been a good script but in the real life, what happened with a group of young actor from GTH's branch Nadao Bangkok caused a stir on social media during weekend. "SuckSeed" and "Hormones" actor Napat "Toptap" Chokejindachai was seen dancing in the video but he was not only "perpetrator" as actress Sutatta "Pan Pan" Udomsilp joined him as the one who put the video on her Instagram that caused anger among other Thais.
Such an inappropriate manner is bad for Thai reputations in Japan, the verdict on the social media says. Facebook page "E-Jeab Liab Duan", leading page on social affairs with over 1 million followers, mocked the incident with a photo captured from the video and said: "Those Chinese tourists again... maybe we should ban from entering the country." The post received over 40,000 likes.
The controversy got worse as someone, supposedly fans of "Hormones" group replied in a way that it was not a big deal. It then even amplified the story. To nip something in the bud, "Hormones" director Songyos "Yong" Sumaganan offered an apology on his Instagram. "I'm sorry for failing to look after them well enough and that they acted inappropriately. I do apologise," he said on his Instagram from Japan. Yong's post got over a thousands replies. Most of his fans do understand and are behind him, giving the director moral supports. But there are a lot of his fan who voiced the same opinion that he needs not apologise for something he didn't do. "Those people (young actors) should do it not you," a lot of comments went the same way. Shortly after Yong's apology, Pan Pan and Toptap posted their apologies to fans. Although theirs came a little bit too late, they signalled that they knew that the issue had gone too far than anyone had expected. "I apologise for making Thai people look bad in the eyes of Japanese people. I'm wrong and I will try to correct my wrongdoings. Please don't blame it on my either Nadao or GTH. It's all my fault. I also want to apologise to Phi Yong. I will accept any punishment from my firm," said Toptap on his Instagram. Pan Pan also said sorry to Thai people on her Instagram. She's already deleted the video clip on her account although many news website still carry them. "It was just my fault, I wasn't thinking and though it was a fun thing to upload the video. I didn't think about the etiquette of riding the train in Japan." Like Toptap, Pan Pan said she has no excuse and is willingly to accept "punishment" from the studio thanks to her inappropriate action. Soosip heard that some of the "Hormones" group have been back to Bangkok. Our advice is that they should refrain from using the social media. The youngsters have learned the lesson, albeit a hard way at a high price. All they can do now is to let the "drama" (controversy) die down. Or they can play for a more dramatic incident to take over their action in Japan.
