The Sugar Club has headline acts on its one-of-a-kind stage

The newly opened Sugar Club is adding new flavour to electronic-music-driven Sukhumvit Soi 11 with the feel of live music in concert.
We know you hang out in Soi 11 because it’s swanky, it’s cool and it has abundant choices of electronic music to choose from. We also know you love your progressive house and minimal electro, but if your ears ever need a break from the thumping beats, the Sugar Club offers a whole different experience with live music.
We’re not talking half-decent cover bands that amount to two guys with acoustic guitars and five-year-old set lists. The Sugar Club aims to offer a mini-concert-style experience with party and clubbing ambience thrown in.
The spacious multi-level venue near the Australian Sports Pub and Restaurant is equipped with state-of-the-art light and sound systems and has a big-name line-up almost every week. Joey Boy, Chin Chinawut, Da Endorphine and Thaitanium have graced the stage since its grand opening on October 1.
“We felt Soi 11 was missing a high-quality venue dedicated to live music,” says American Benjamin Baskins, marketing director at the Bangkok Entertainment Group. “We’re defiantly seeing people wanting more variety these days, so we wanted to create a unique live-music club like none other on Sukhumvit.
“We built a stage that’s unique in Bangkok, with the drummer floating above it, and a five-metre catwalk to immerse the crowd, giving them the feeling of being part of the entertainment. We also have a great dance crew that offers non-stop entertainment throughout the night.”
The club promises to bring a lot of quality Thai acts as well as foreigners in the near future. Later on in the night, when the live session is over, you can also dance to a string of “high-quality hip-hop and chart hits” by resident DJs.
Despite all the glitzy get-up and big-name acts, the Sugar Club aims to entice a large segment of party people who enjoy high-quality entertainment and good value. Most special-event nights are free admission with Bt100 drinks, an open bar for Bt500 and Bt999 bottles before midnight.
The club’s management, the Bangkok Entertainment Group, is also responsible for V Club, Wax and Levels, other well-known clubs in the soi.
“Wax is offering all-new music theme nights from Wednesday to Saturday,” says Baskin. “Levels will have big-name DJs lined up to perform till the end of year, as well as killer theme nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sundays at Levels will offer quality hip-hop on the weekly Urban Beatz nights. And V Club will reopen on November 13 after a complete makeover, with a big party with DJ D Ramirez.”
Opening soon on Soi 11 is the Azura Loungebar. Dressed in relaxing contemporary d?cor, the bar will serve Greek and Spanish dishes, tapas and other Mediterranean items in a classy, chic outdoor setting with views of the Bangkok skyline.
