Lovely Rita did some research

Eighteen-year-old nattahpimol "Rita" Natayalak's perfect packaging of good looks, wit and charm earned her both the Miss Universe Thailand and Miss Personality titles a week ago today.

Add honesty in there, too.
You often hear beauty contestants say they entered the competition on a whim or because someone talked them into it, but half-Thai, half-Austrian Rita declared straight out she decided when she was still a kid that one day she’d wear a crown.
The judges wanted a three-part game plan, and she said hers is to dream, pursue her dreams and do her best. Not a bad answer for a first-timer to the pageant business, but Rita – who’s about to commence art studies at chulalongkorn University – had done some studying-up. She used a research program for teenagers called YouTube, which apparently records all of history’s beauty pageants.
“I’d watch and see the questions and then hit pause and practise answering the questions,” Rita said on Channel 5’s “Jor Jai” programme.” Being able to speak Thai, English and German, she could tackle the trickier foreign quizzes as well.
Oh, and she’s a born diplomat, which is also important. Asked to name her beauty-queen role model, Rita replied, “Each of them has her own beauty and charm, so I can’t really pick only one!”

Safe bets
We’ll bet big money that you already know Euro Cup 2012 has begun. It’s a sure thing, as is the likelihood that Thais are choosing draws right this moment, as they do any major football tournament.
Bangkok Poll found that 27.5 per cent of young football fans planned to wage on the tournament, so the Metro Police Bureau assigned three squads to stop them. The cops will be watching for stealthy exchanges and any sign of “gambling dens” near schools.
Also, Deputy Chief Saroj Phromcharoen says that if you do gamble and lose, you don’t need to pay off. Just tell the police and they’ll protect you. We think that’s very generous. Now, where’s our bookie?
