Cho Kyuhyun, a member of South Korea’s superstar boy band Super Junior as well as Super Junior-M and Super Junior-KRY, recently flew into Thailand alone to film a new TV commercial for the seaweed snack Masita, which has come up a spicy Korean BBQ flavour. He also presented the new snack to fans at Central Chaeng Wattana at a meet and greet event dubbed “Masita Date With Kyuhyun”, which allowed fans of the 24-year-old Korean to exchange receipts for tickets.
The event opened with a mini concert by Thai popster Chin Chinawut before Kyuhyun came out on stage to introduce the new commercial and the behind-the-scene footage, which drew loud screams from the assembled fans.
The young Korean star gave an interview on stage and also played a painting quiz, calling on 10 fans in the audience to identify the subject of his sketches. Next up was a somtam making competition with Kyuhyun teasing the emcee by adding a lot of chillies to his papaya salad and paying the price with tears when he tasted the super spicy concoction!
“I’m very glad to come back to Thailand and see fans again. I even recognised some people I meet when I became a presenter for Masita last year,” Kyuhyun said. “I hope you carry on enjoying the snack.”
The party ended with the distribution of autographed posters.
