The host or co-host of no fewer than seven different TV shows on various channels has stunned his fans with a tweet saying he’ll soon vanish.
Having alerted the studio bosses, @Na_nake told his more than 330,000 followers on Twitter that after February he’ll gone from “E-mouth”, “Roo Jing Pa”, “Sabatchor” and “Game Pao Kon”. Then in March he disappears from “Priew Pak”. Then when “thailand’s Got Talent” finishes its season toward the end of the year, he’s gone for good, post-host post-haste.
And furthermore, he says, he’s going to give up Twitter when he’s fired off his 5,555th tweet. So he’s got about 1,000 more to go. And then May will see his final one-man-stand-up comedy show.
Paranoia attack? Publicity stunt?
Na Nake insists he’s not looking for a big farewell splash in the news, but he can’t elaborate further until “the end of this week”. That’s when he says we get the explanatory announcement, “once and for all”.
‘Error’? Hardly
In hardened times, movies remain the greatest escape. Exhibit A is “ATM Er Rak Error”, the new comedy from GTH and director Mez Tharatorn, which sold Bt8.64 million worth of tickets on opening night. That’s Bt1.4 million better than the previous GTH record holder, “Guan Muen Ho”.
Bigger picture: “ATM Er Rak Error” bagged Bt44 million in its opening few days (Thursday to Sunday), beating the GTH high mark of “Bangkok Love Traffic Story”.
Twitter goosed sales along with numerous tweets about people laughing so much they peed their pants.
Chantawit “Ter” Thanasevee, who was also the male lead in “Guan Muen Ho”, seems poised to become the first GTH actor with a pair of films that earned Bt100 million. “ATM Er Rak Error” is already halfway there and it’s not leaving theatres anytime soon.
We hear that GTH has commissioned a lovely silk sash to hang across Ter’s chest that says “Hundred-million-baht hero”.
