Mario gets the skinny on acting
The most-discussed movie at the moment is "Umong Pha Muang" ("The Outrage"), director ML Bhandevanop Devakula's "Rashomon" adaptation that stars Mario Maurer, Ananda Everingham and Chermarn "Ploy" Boonyasak.
Mario's delighted with how things went during filming, he said in a recent TV interview. The source of his greatest happiness, though, was acting alongside stars like Ananda, whom he idolises.
Ananda was thrilled at the praise, and gave Mario some humorous career advice: Do what he's done. By that he meant be ready to do some nude scenes.
In "The Outrage" Ananda plays a warlord dressed in full regalia, and was glad to be so "completely" dressed, he says, but there is indeed one scene where he strips off.
So expect another box-office hit for Ananda. And Mario: Heed the advice!
Making history with 'OBL'
Filmmaking trio Panu Aree, Kong Rithdee and Kaweenipon Ketprasit observe a historic event in their latest effort, and you don't even have to leave home to see it.
"OBL", which was one of the openers of the recent Thai Short Film and Video Festival, will have its online premiere on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The 20-minute short is a look at Thai Muslims in the 10 years since 9/11. The title "OBL" is of course a reference to Osama bin Laden.
It'll be a side of Thai culture that's rarely seen, except in the other films by the three Muslims, which have included "The Convert", about the marriage of a Buddhist woman and a Muslim man, and "Baby Arabia", which profiled Bangkok's Muslim rock band.
You can watch "OBL" anytime from 9pm on Sunday to 9pm on Monday.
