The migrants were handed over to Myanmar authorities at the Mae Sae border point in the northern province after a joint operation by the Army, Chiang Rai Immigration and the Thai-Myanmar Co-operation Office.
Thai authorities said the illegal migrants had been prosecuted and deported in line with the bilateral agreement between the two countries. The number of border crossers from Myanmar has risen dramatically since a bloody crackdown by the Myanmar junta following the February 1 military coup.
