Of these, 161 persons are being treated, 140 persons have been cured and two have died.
The two deceased staffers were working with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA).
“Another 1,640 officials, or 1.39 per cent of total staff, had been quarantined as they had contact with persons who tested positive,” he added.
“Since March 1, the infection rate within the ministry is at 10.8 people per day on average, while the recovery rate is at 12.4 people per day, or about 15 per cent higher than the infection rate.”
Agencies that have reported the most infections are Airports of Thailand at 81 cumulative cases, followed by BMTA 53 cases, State Railway of Thailand 35 cases, Department of Highways 25 cases, Port Authority of Thailand 22 cases and Expressway Authority of Thailand 17 cases.
Saksayam had contracted Covid-19 on April 7 and had been hospitalised in Buri Ram province until April 20. After being discharged he remained in self-quarantine at home for another two weeks.
