Alert sounded as wild bull flees national park for second time in a month

Alert sounded as wild bull flees national park for second time in a month

A wild bull, which had escaped from Khao Sok National Park in Surat Thani province last month, and was rumoured to have had relations with a cow raised at an oil-palm plantation nearby, is once again absconding, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) said on Saturday.

To prevent accidents, Bannaruk Sermthong, director of Protected Areas Regional Office 4, has asked the village headman and cow owner to be careful while moving cows around.

"Meanwhile, Khao Sok National Park and Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary have been urged to monitor the wild bull's behaviour and prepare to lure the bull back to the forest," he said.

The DNP had earlier reported that the bull, around 10 years old, had come to an oil-palm plantation in Phanom district on April 17 and had returned to the forest on April 21.
